What are Dental Veneers? 

More people are now aware of what cosmetic dental procedures can be undertaken and the amazing results that can be achieved. Increasing numbers of people are taking the opportunity to improve their smile.

Veneers are thin (0.3mm +) ceramic facings that are bonded to the teeth. When done well using a skilled ceramic technician they are an excellent way of enhancing the appearance of teeth. Every patient we see who has veneers will have their case diagnosed and carefully planned using techniques such as a customised wax up, digital cosmetic imaging and direct composite placement. Once the patient is happy to proceed we will use preparation guides to carefully shape the teeth and make impressions ready for the technician to work his artistic magic.

How do veneers work? 

The success of veneers depends on planning, use of an excellent technician and meticulous bonding. If done well they should make the teeth stronger and can last for up to 15 years.

Veneers can change the shape and colour of a tooth or teeth on a number of levels – they are effectively a facing on the tooth’s surface. It is also important to add that high quality porcelain veneers, when manufactured and planned for correctly, are very durable and resistant to staining and chipping. They have a texture similar to enamel.
