Botox and Fillers (Wrinkle Reduction and Wrinkle smoothing)
Botox is a wrinkle reduction procedure that can reduce or eliminate wrinkles in the upper third of the face including forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet around the eyes. It is a safe and simple procedure used to create a youthful appearance. A very small amount of the solution is injected with a very fine needle into several locations in the face. The pain associated with the injections is mild to moderate and no local anaesthetic is required.
Botox® temporarily blocks the nerve endings to the facial muscles relaxing them. By reducing muscle movement, the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften and fade away. Over time the patient can retrain the facial muscles to be less expressive by breaking the habit of subconscious overuse. The cosmetic benefits of Botox® were discovered in 1990 and it has been used effectively and safely ever since. Results can last from 2 months to 6 months.
Dermal Fillers can be used in deep lines and creases to soften lines and plump the skin.
As your skin ages, it loses the collagen that helps to shape and support it. Dermal fillers can help replace this volume. Dermal fillers can reduce wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, create fuller lips and give your face a more supple, toned look.
Sometimes a local anaesthetic or topical anaesthetic is recommended to reduce any discomfort associated with the procedure. Results can last from 6 – 12 months.
